Öffentliche Institutionen und private Unternehmen investieren heute sehr viel Geld in die Forschung zur Arzneimittelsicherheit und in Risikomanagementprogramme – mit oftmals enttäuschenden Ergebnissen. Indem wir Patienten und Forscher zusammenführen, können wir bessere, schnellere und kostengünstigere Forschung betreiben.
MediGuard hat ein den vergangenen zwei Jahren mehr als 200 Forschungsprojekte durchgeführt, darunter Querschnittstudien, auf Patientenangaben beruhende Wirksamkeitsstudien, Studien zur Inanspruchnahme von Gesundheitseinrichtungen und zu wirtschaftlichen Auswirkungen auf das Gesundheitswesen.

Neben projektspezifischen Tätigkeiten befragt MediGuard.org seine Mitglieder regelmäßig, um kontinuierlich Rückmeldungen zu erhalten. Dazu wird an zufällig ausgesuchte Mitglieder ein validierter Fragebogen zur Zufriedenheit mit der Arzneimittelbehandlung versandt. In den vergangenen zwei Jahren hat MediGuard.org aus den Antworten von über 60.000 dieser Fragebogen eine Datenbank aufgebaut, die Ergebnisse zu mehr als 750 Medikamenten enthält.
