About Us

MediGuard was created by professionals with decades of experience in healthcare market research, clinical drug development, and drug safety to help patients take a more active role in their treatment." Initially funded by Quintiles Transnational, the world’s leading provider of clinical research services, the primary purpose of MediGuard is to promote better communication and research about drug safety. Specifically, the goal was to create a community of patients profiled by medication and condition that are both accessible and motivated to participate in research.

We believe that the patient can play an important role in improving drug safety. Today, public and private organizations spend millions of dollars on drug safety research and risk management programs-often with disappointing results. At MediGuard, we feel strongly that connecting patients and researchers will allow us to conduct better, faster and more cost-effective research. Our end goal is to publish data that ultimately improves patient satisfaction, safety, and health.

Dr. Hugo Stephenson

Founder & President

Hugo Stephenson is the Founder and President of MediGuard. He brings over 15 years experience in medicine, drug development and drug safety–including most recently serving as President for Quintiles late phase clinical services. He was an early pioneer in medical decision support, and is an internationally renowned expert on drug safety research.

Elisa Cascade, MBA

Head of Operations

Elisa Cascade is responsible for global MediGuard operations. She has nearly 20 years of experience in strategic research including market research, pricing, reimbursement, and health outcomes research.

Al DolceAmore, MBA

Director of Partner Development

Al DolceAmore is responsible for identifying, developing, and maintaining strategic partnerships in the US. Al brings to MediGuard over 30 years of experience in strategic marketing and business development within the financial and pharmaceutical industries.

Cassie Plummer, PharmD, MPH

Head of Medical Information

Cassie Plummer manages MediGuard’s Drug Information Services. She has over 10 years of experience in providing medical information in a variety of settings including retail pharmacies, hospitals and clinics, academic teaching centers and clinical research settings.

Les Gillings

Head of Marketing

Les Gillings is leading MediGuard expansion into Australia and other AAA countries. Les has substantial experience in establishing local clinical research organizations in countries around the world.
